Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation, similar to sandblasting. There are two types of microdermabrasion machines, crystal and crystal free. The crystal machine uses small sand-like particles, which is an older, messier method. At The Blushery, our estheticians use a diamond encrusted, crystal free wand to slough away dead skin cells on the epidermis. Removing the top layer of skin stimulates new skin growth and speeds up the cell turnover process, which naturally slows down as we age. Promoting cellular growth aids in a more even, youthful complexion.
Results vary for each individual and are not guaranteed. Treatments are more effective when performed in a series, spaced every 1-2 weeks apart.
There is minimal to no discomfort from microdermabrasion and there is no recovery or downtime.
Discontinue Retin A, alpha hydroxy acids(AHA), and abrasive scrubs 48 hours before treatments
Discontinue Accutane 1 (one) year prior to treatments, as it makes skin extremely sensitive to exfoliation.
